AGBIS Launches Service for Transformative Fundraising Initiatives

A Focus on Top-of-Pyramid Fundraising for Universities and Colleges

September 27, 2017 -  AGB Institutional Strategies (AGBIS) announced today the launch of a new consulting service, Transformative Fundraising Initiatives, which takes a strategic approach to philanthropy focused on attracting million-dollar-plus gifts that are transformative for the institution and its long-term business model.

“Our goal is to assist institutions and foundations in successfully engaging a special group of donors or partners–the top two percent–in serious conversations about multi-million-dollar gifts to support institutional mission and aspiration,” said Rick Beyer, managing principal of AGB Institutional Strategies. “To achieve this level of success, institutions must be able to offer donors investment opportunities that look and feel different from the typical request.”
The new service will address issues of institutional urgency and transformative planning while building the case for philanthropic support, along with implementation support. Led by Jim Lanier, an expert in the field of foundations and college and university fundraising and a senior fellow at AGB Institutional Strategies, this service will assist institutions in attracting and implementing the process of securing million-dollar-plus gifts.

“Working with the top two percent of the giving pyramid allows institutions to develop unique value propositions which align donor aspirations with those of the institution,” Lanier said. “AGBIS is focusing this service purposely because of its transformative qualities for individual colleges or universities and life-changing possibilities for individual beneficiaries.”

The typical engagement will last four to six months, which includes implementation support. The service uses the proven AGBIS process of Diagnostics, Exploration, and Implementation.

“Our partnerships with colleges and universities create sustainable, innovative and mission-focused solutions ,” Beyer said. “Transformative Fundraising Initiatives goes beyond simply addressing short-term needs; it extends our commitment to strengthening the financial health of higher education.”
